Mineral Photographs - Reproduction Fees for Publication of Photos

Digital photographs of the minerals from this site are available for commercial and non-profit use.
Over 75,000 images are available suitable for low-resolution reproduction via the web or other digital media.
High resolution images (approximate 1500 x 2200 pixels) are available for the best 8,000 images. At 300 dpi, the images will reproduce at 5x7".

All of my mineral photographs are internationally protected by copyrights.
Using them in any way, especially on a web site or software, is NEVER permitted without a formal licensing agreement.
You can arrange to license images from me for use.

Below is a schedule of fees for use of my images:

Web Page Use -  Other Page $200 One time license of copyright
Books - less than 5,000 copies $150 One time license of copyright
Books - 5,000-29,999 copies $250 One time license of copyright
Books - 30,000 or more copies $300 One time license of copyright
Periodicals - less than 50,000 copies $200 One time license of copyright
Periodicals - 50,000-999,999 copies $250 One time license of copyright
Periodicals - 100,000 or more copies $300 One time license of copyright
Exhibits and other Static Displays $250 One time license of copyright
Lectures and Classroom Presentations Free Falls under "Fair Use Doctrine" but no publication of the lecture via web, print, or video cannot replicate any images without a formal licensing agreement.

All fees are for one-time, single use. Multiple use of images require additional licenses, at a discounted fee rate.

 

How to request images:

  1. Send an email inquiry to jhbnyc@aol.com listing the minerals (or locations) desired.

  2. We will search the available images and respond with low-resolution versions via email, plus a licensing agreement.

  3. Select the desired images and print out and fill in the licensing agreement, providing credit card information for payment.

  4. Fax the completed licensing agreement to the fax number on the form.

  5. Once the licensing agreement is received, and credit card payment is complete, you will be emailed the high resolution image.

Request for large quantities of images require a $250 deposit, which will be credited to any subsequent licensing agreement.
This fee covers the researcher's time to look through the available images.
